Medievalism & Pseudohistory

The Middle Ages has inspired countless conspiracy theories and works of speculative history, as well as numerous cults, secret societies, and political movements. This course will examine the motivations behind the creation of medieval pseudohistory, its relationship to academic medieval studies, and its medievalist “repackaging” in popular history, fiction, film, and political discourse. Exclusions: ML300K.
